What Will You Learn?
David Groom is a Judo black belt and international competitor from the UK. In his 5-part series, David looks to cut through the guesswork of landing “fancy foot sweeps” Foot sweeps can be often overlooked for many competitors, and Groom looks to fix that by simplifying seemingly complex Okuri-Ashi-Harai techniques.
The series teaches you how to make Okuri-Ashi-Harai one of your go-to techniques for taking your opponent to the floor. David takes it much further than a singular technique, and instead branches out into an easy to learn system that works at all levels. The series teaches how to build a foundation for foot sweeps with a wide range of drills including solo footwork, grip fighting, kuzushi, and more. Once you’ve mastered the singular technique of Okuri-Ashi-Harai you’ll start to be able to combine other techniques in combination to take your game to the next level.
Learn to develop “fancy feet” with clear cut foot work and decisive movements that put your opponent into perfect position for foot sweeps. With David’s instruction you’ll start to be more fleet of foot when gripping and being gripped by an opponent. These movement concepts can be implemented immediately into your game, and allow you for more efficient transitions into offensive attacks. As an added bonus Groom takes you through his counter series to give you a well-rounded approach to the Okuri-Ashi-Harai!

Wow
One of the best video on the site
Get this if you want a deeper understanding of Okuri Ashi Harai...
....or ashiwaza generally. David Groom's material is very thorough, and he takes the tried and tested route of going from fundamentals straight through to combos and counters. The video could really do with some editing; it's not as polished as some of the other videos on here, but it doesn't detract from providing quality ashiwaza understanding. He makes the whole thing look so simple, but obviously this is coming from years of experience and honing his technique to a high standard. If you're into ashiwaza you'll get massive benefit from this - highly recommended.
Great Compliment for the Awesome Ashi Waza video
This instructional has great content and a solid addition to Awesome Ashi Waza. Judokas who invest in this vid will be able to upgrade their okuri ashi harai as a set up or a counter move. Intuitive instructor providing step by step guide. This assisted me in improving my okuri ashi harai in Randori and now hoping to try it soon in comp.
Superb
Great combos set out in the video. Really useful
